Salads and Raitas can be had along with rice or chappati’s, rotis or you can have even as such. Cooking the veggies is not mandatory, you can even include sprouted pulses and vegetables. Eating the veggeis and greens as such is always refreshing, healthy and nutritious.

In this section I will be dealing with some of the traditional salads and raitas we Konkanis in South Kerala have been preparing and those that have been passed down to us since generations.  I have included a fruit salad recepie also in this category which is usually inevitable during wedding feasts.

Then there is another raita called Siva Karna which is prepared and offered as nivedyam to Lord Krishna during Janmashtami.
