Kisumbur/Kismor (Yam salad) is a type of salad prepared from yam by the Konkani’s. This is usually served along with rice for lunch in Konkani homes. The method of preparation of kismbur/kismor varies from region to region.
Ingredients
You need
- 1 cup yam (Suran) cut into small pieces
- 2 tbspn coconut scrapings
- 3 to 5 shallots
- 1 or 2 green chillies (Or as per your spiciness level)
- Oil for frying
- Salt to taste
Method
Remove the skin, wash and cut the yam into small pieces. Remove the peel of shallots wash and cut into small pieces.
Fry the pieces in oil till they are crisp.
Add green chillies cut into slices, shallots cut into small pieces, coconut scrapings and salt and mix well.
Your Kisumbur/Kismor (Yam salad) is ready to be served.
Serve with rice as a salad.
Tips
You can even smear the suran pieces with salt and then fry. If you are preparing like this then be careful when you add the salt at the end.
