Timblis is a totally green and vegetarian salad /raita. Timblis is a healthy and nutritious like other salads. Just like most other Konkani dishes coconut has also taken its place in the salad/raita. In the preparation of this salad all the veggies have to be cut into small pieces. The salad is good for people on diet to lose weight.
Ingredients
You need
- 1 medium sized onion
- 1 medium sized tomato
- 1 salad cucumber
- 3 to 4 leaves of cabbage
- 1 or 2 green chilies or depending on your spiciness level
- 1 medium size carrot
- 2 to 3 tbspns of chopped coriander leaves
- 2 to 3 tbspns of grated coconut
- 2 to 3 tbspns curd (not sour; thick curd preferred)
- Salt to taste
Method
Cut all the veggies mentioned in the ingredients into small pieces, grate the coconut and chop the coriander
Put all the cut veggies in a mixing bowl. Add curd and salt. Mix well.
Your Thimblis is ready to be served.
Serve with rice, chapattis, rotis or you can even have it as such.
Tips
Grated coconut and curd are the heart and soul of the dish. So do not miss them out. Instead of curds you may use lemon juice also.
You can also add tender ivy gourd (Tendulaein), tender bilimbi (Birmicarmbal) and also ripe mango or even Kanni manga. You can use the mango along with peel provided the peel is not bitter.
