Cauliflower bhajja is an evening snack that can be served along with tea or coffee. This spicy and salty snack is crispy on the outside and soft inside. You can either have this cauliflower bhajja as such or along with tomato sauce. This is easy to prepare and requires less time.
The recipe given here will not give you the unpleasant smell of cauliflower after preparing the bhajja.
Ingredients
You need
- 1 cauliflower
- 1/4th tspn turmeric powder
- 1 tspn red chilli powder (or as per you spiciness level)
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
For batter
- 1 cup besan
- ¼ to ½ tspn chilli powder (or as per your spiciness level)
- 1/4th tspn turmeric powder
- 1/4th tspn asafoetida
- Water as required
- Salt to taste
Method
Preparing the cauliflower
Remove the green leaves and wash the cauliflower thoroughly. Cut the cauliflower into medium and equal sized florets.
Heat 2 tbspns oil in a kadai and add the cauliflower florets, turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt and mix well. Close it with a lid. Let it cook for 4 to 5 minutes. Open the lid and stir it in between. Switch off the flame after 5 minutes.
Preparing Cauliflower bhajja
Now heat oil in a kadai for deep frying.
In the meantime make the batter ready using the required amount of water as mentioned under ingredients. The batter should be reasonably thick and without lumps.
Once the oil is heated dip the cooked florets in the batter one by one and slowly drop them into the oil.
Deep fry them until golden yellow in colour.
Remove from oil and drain off excess oil using a strainer or tissue paper.
Your Cauliflower bhajja is ready to be served
Serve it with tomato ketchup.
Tips
You can use fresh oil for frying.
You can add little rice flour to the batter to make it crisp.
