Dhaadu is a finely powdered snack prepared from a combination of pulses, cereals and ragi. It is highly nutritious and a very good snack when you have so many of your friends and family members sitting around you for a chit chat. It is liked by children and old alike.
Ingredients
You need
- 1 tbspn par boiled rice
- 1 tbspn ragi
- 1 tbspn wheat
- 1 tbspn Urad dhal
- 1 tbspn horse gram
- 1 tbspn channa dal
- 1 tspn thuvar dal
- 7 to 10 pepper corns
- 2 to 4 red chillies (or as per your spiciness level)
- 1 tspn hing
- Salt to taste
Method
Wash the par boiled rice and drain away all the water. Dry roast it and after it has roasted you will see that it is turning white and a change in colour will be observed.
Dry roast horse gram and after it has roasted it will start popping up slightly and colour change is observed.
Ragi upon dry roasting will change colour and start to pop.
Thuvar dal and channa dal will change colour and become slightly aromatic.
Wheat will swell up and slight change in colour will be observed upon dry roasting.
Dry roast pepper corns, red chillies as well as salt (as salt has moisture; while dry roasting salt switch off the flame).
Transfer all the roasted ingredients to a mixer, add hing and
make a fine powder.
Your Dhaadu is ready. Store in air tight containers.
To serve: Take dhaadu in a small bowl drizzle some coconut oil and mix well (the amount of coconut oil should be such that after drizzling and mixing there should not be any ball formation).
